my favorite pieces? the asymmetrically zipped jacket in the first photo, the lengthy tux/blazer in the third, and i like the white shirts in the last photo with the extra sleeve detailing.my friends and i have been buzzing with anticipation ever since this collaboration was announced. after last year's predictably leopard-drenched cavalli collection, the announcement of comme des garçons was so intriguing - a line known for its avant garde creativity.

when looking at comme des garçons' fall 2008 ready-to-wear, i can't help but wonder - what happened? the collection is full of beautifully full and bound fabrics, straps, rushed and incorrect buttons, and the whisper of a cabaret dancer's underclothing. the h&m collaboration, in comparison, has... some polka dots? a lot of basic buttoned shirts? where did all of those beautiful, artisitc, exciting things go?
it's completely understandable and expected that a designer collaboration with a mass-production store like h&m is going to come out watered down. my question is, how does this commes des garçons line read 'comme des garçons' at all? are these pieces really so unique that the average mall store isn't already supplying them? we don't need comme des garçons at h&m to make trench coats. i'm pretty sure h&m already has that one covered.

here's hoping the collection looks better in person...i say we make a detour to H&M after YSL in november...
i see dropped crotch goodness!!
mike told me this was only going to be available in places like tokyo. *tear*
the collection looks like serious fail. the only redeeming quality might be the fabric, but that's highly unlikely.
I spy a few things I like, but I was expecting much more! I thought this would be the collaboration that would actually put some intersting peices out there, but I guess it still has to keep with the H&M name, and it has to sell!
Thanks for sharing!
The stuff looks like something a bag-lady would wear! *roll eyes*
This really looks boring! I wonder what the mens clothing look like?
Anyway, the collection will be available in selected stores like last yers Cavalli campaign. Here in Sweden the collections have become smaller for every year. Stella and Lagerfeldt was available in many stores all over the country. But after Victor & Rolf only stores in the largest cities would sell the items. I think this is gonna be even more "limited".....too bad. But if it´s gonna flop, then it´s no need to worry, hehehe :)
Don't forget to spell check! It's Comme des Garçons, Comme de Garcons!
thanks anonymous! errors fixed.
